Round 2 Footy Record

Welcome to Rnd 2 at City Oval V Sale Magpies for a great day of footy, netball and reminiscing. Special welcome & congratulations to our 1981 Premiers and our 2001 footy & netball back2back Premiers for their respective reunions today. Those that come before us help shape what we are today. Let’s all do our bit to make 2021 a history making year to remember.

Rnd1 trip to Warragul was an overall positive. Some mixed results and plenty to build on.

Rain & wind make Netball even more challenging. Our young A Grade team put together some great passages of play in a first up loss to the Gulls. Bairnsdale Gift Card went to Macy Tatnell. Co-Coach Kristie Rees confirmed plans are on track following a steady return to training and competition. She’s really excited about the season and urges you to get courtside today and make some noise at what is certain to be a hard fought encounter with the Pies.

B Grade had a narrow loss Awards for better players Grand Terminus Sophie Bills Amcal Danielle Johnson

Our C’s went down and will be better for the run. New Leaf voucher to Caitlyn Sonka & Bodyworx to Chelsea Wellman.

17’s were pipped by 4 in a close one Sportsfirst Ruby Timms Exchange House Indi Dalton.

15’s had a great win first up with Karls award to Jordy O’Connor and King & Heath Maddie Fullgrabe

The early starting 13’s had a resounding win with award winners GB & BJ Bills Painting Olivia Pearson & King Heath Paynesville to Eve Sabell

Updates from the Seniors Footy timekeepers were in high demand as the Redlegs got home by 4pts in a nail-biter. A hard working 1st qtr playing into the strongest breeze for the day set the tone for a well deserved win. Nicky Bulmer’s smooth moving and long left leg earned him b.o.g whilst Simon Deery, Corey Timms, Matty Corbett, Brayden McCarrey (3 goals) and Charlie Mein helped lead the way.

The Reserves played some fast moving footy in what possibly were the best conditions of the day to have a solid win. Jack Halabut, Tommy Southen, Ridge Peters, Nick George, Boris Bryant & Tim Daniel were the best performers.

The 18’s hanged tough for a solid win. Best players were RJ Farnham, Damon O’Connor Aiden Williams Tom Hudson (4 goals) and Liam Scott

Warragul set a challenging benchmark for our 16’s in a tough day at the office. Nate Sommerville, Charlie Mann, Spencer Zizman, Jadah Frith, Tate Hammond & Finn Boag stood up well.

Today at the footy, the Dahlsens Cup is up for grabs. Previously a pre-season trophy, Club Presidents conferred to raise its status to each encounter of the regular season. There seems no better time than today to raise the stakes and fortify the rivalry.

Good Luck to all teams and players today. Looking forward to catching up with you in the Social rooms post match.

Go Redlegs.
