Congratulations to our 15&U netballers & coaches who are set to play off for the Premiership next week! Our girls progressed through to the Grand Final after defeating Sale in the 2nd semi. It was a game of fluctuating momentum which challenged the mindset of our girls. A 7 goal lead early in the 2nd turned into a tied game at the half. The trend continued in a tense second half which finished with the Redlegs 4 goals in front. Well done team!
Our Reserves need a repeat their QF win over Maffra in today’s Prelim. After running Leongatha to two goals last week, belief is growing. Remarkably, last week’s opponent went into the game with an 2024 avg winning margin of 80pts and a closest margin on their home ground of 40pts. We dominated possession in the first however 2 goals 5 didn’t provide reward for effort and proved to be costly in the end result. Another strong performance today is needed to possibly give us another crack next week.
Our 17’s take on the Parrots today after downing the Magpies by 5 goals last week. Our girls controlled the game and took a commanding 13 goal lead mid-way through the 3rd. Despite the margin being reduced, the result was never in doubt. We need to play all the way through to the final whistle today if we are to reverse the QF result and join the 15’s on Grand Final day. You can do it girls.
Last week was the end of the line for our A’s & 16’s. At the netball, it was a game of momentum swings. A 3 goal lead at the qtr became a 6 goal deficit at the half and then a 1 goal margin heading into the last. Drouin got on top in the final qtr with a few runs of consecutive goals and despite a fight back we eventually went down by 9. Well done to our girls on a great season of growth and improvement. From 9th with 2 wins to 4th with 10 wins and two finals matches is a great achievement.
At the footy, our boys gave the Eagles a 6 goal head start before a strong 3rd qtr of 3 goals reduced the margin to 18pts at the final change. A 4th place finish with 11 wins is strong result and the 61 pt semi final loss a reflection of our standing against the top 3 teams across the home and away season. Well done to the boys for their resilience and improvement. Their season included a great recovery after a disastrous opening round and all now have a solid base to build on in 2025.
