Rnd 17 Footy Record

Wow! To paraphrase the President, what a difference a win makes to the feel of the joint.

After breaking a 40yr hoodoo & a 6 game losing streak, there is no other option than to up the ante and win v Morwell at home today. Two more wins can get us to a 6th place finish and something to build on in 2024. Must Win.

Special welcome to the EGJFA & ODFNL u15 players who trained with the 16’s on Thursday. It was a great night on the track and we hope you and your families enjoy the day at the footy today.

In addition to the seniors, our ressies have a great opportunity to get on the winners list and receive some reward for effort. Our 3rds & 4ths need to focus on process and team rules to make sure they get the job done today.

Over on the court, it’s a pretty big day of action. Our A’s face a tough challenge v the reigning premiers. We’ weren’t far off last meeting and the improvement shown since rnd 8 means we’re right in the hunt today. The C’s clash is possibly a preview to the elimination final with the winner gaining some fresh air and moving 4pts clear in 4th. Our 17’s have a great opportunity to improve their ladder position and move to 6th whilst a win for our 15’s keeps the pressure right on other teams and will be ready to pounce on a second chance possie should the 3rd place team falter. Our 13’s must win to stay a game clear of 6th and in the box seat for a finals berth.

Our Juniors had a great end of season celebration with their vote count and presentation last Friday night. Thanks to Rob & Brooke Soulsby and all the parents and helpers for their work in making it another great year of junior footy at the Redlegs. The kids had a ball.

Our Youth Girls’ season came to a halt last Sunday when we went down to Sale City in the Prelim Final @ Drouin. Upon reflection, the team & individuals improved greatly over the course of the season. It’s a credit to them and their coaches in Gudgy & Tayah that they had such a successful home & away season finishing on top of the ladder. Being a fairly young group, most will be back at it again next season. Well done.
