Welcome to footy & netball at Bairnsdale for a great day of community sport action. A special mention of welcome to our opponents Leongatha. A great win by our C’s last week and our Thirds win was a real nailbiter. Likewise, our 15&U got over the line by 4 to be our only winners last week.
Our 2’s took it right up to their more fancied opponent last week in a strong showing. A similar performance today will see them right in the hunt. Our Thirds is a must win, heightened by last weekend’s results. It’s really tight at the top and with the Wonthaggi bye to come, the 4 points today is essential. A 2nd qtr lapse by our 16’s cost them plenty last week and they’ll need 4qtrs of footy to get the W today. Whilst a win is possible for our seniors, recent form would say it’s unlikely. Their best footy is required all day today as a poor showing will see us drop further down the ladder. % is important.
At the netball, 3 teams, inc us & today’s opponent are locked in a battle for two spots in the 13’s top 5. We’ve got the goods and need to show it today. It’s 3 v 4 in the 15’s and a win will keep us right in the frame for a top 3 possie heading into finals. Our 17’s have a chance to shape the 5 and have a win for no other reason than to win. Another 3 v 4 game in C Grade. Winning form is good form and they need to keep the momentum rolling. Our A’s have been perisitent all year and today’s game is somewhat of a mirror image to the senior footy. % is important and their never say die attitude needs to be at the forefront today.
Our Juniors had two great wins over Lindenow last week and are at home v Wy Yung tomorrow in a finals preview. The Tigers always have a strong following. Your support at the ground will really give our players a boost.
Our Youth Girls played out, in some ways, a disappointing a draw against Sale City last week after seemingly being in control of the match. It’s a 1v3 battle against Newborough at home tomorrow so get to the game if you can.
