Boy Oh Boy Wowee! BIG Freeze 8 – What an occasion. Massive Thankyou to Warragul FNC and our volunteer event organisers. Also EGFNL clubs, Gippsland League, Gippsland Live, A Kick In The Bush and of course our courageous Sliders. Huge thanks to all for your generosity as we raised over $25,000 to help Fight MND. Special thanks to all of you who turned out and really created an exciting atmosphere on the day. Our Big Freeze 2 will be all the better for having BF1. Mark next QB weekend in your calendar today.
7/10 wins for the day too in some great games of footy and netball.
It was great to see the junior footyers out on the City Oval Monday with the Eastern All Stars taking on Sale & District. A heartbeaker for the 13’s however wins for the 14’s and 15’s eased the heartburn. Well done to all.
So here we are at the half way mark…..With Morwell & Maffra just above us on the ladder, this fortnight is crucial to our seniors chances of a top 5 finish (which is still possible) The 2’s are in 5th and must win today with Morwell and Moe breathing down their necks. The 3rds sit at 3 in a really tight top 5 while the 4ths are hanging in at 4 ahead of a real danger game today against the Tigers.
Our A’s have a big task today and will be taking it one centre at a time against the top of the table Tiges. 5th plays 6th in the B’s and win is our only option as as our % won’t help our finals prospects. It’s also a day the C’s could surprise whilst the 17’s could be tight with a win putting us in finals contention. A 15’s win is crucial today who along with the Tigers and the Power are locked in a tussle for 5th. Our 13’s should win and remain top 3 and in the mix for a double chance at the pointy end of the season.
It's all to play for today.
Our Juniors are back on the park tomorrow and they too take on the Tigers…… at Wy Yung. Our 15’s are in form and looking for two on the trott whilst our 13’s must win a tough one to keep their finals hope alive. The 11’s have been playing some really good footy and that game will be a great spectacle starting at 10:30am
Our Girls are in a log jam in 5th heading to the half way mark of their season. Tomorrow they have a “home” game v Bunyip at Morwell’s Northern Reserve. We expect they’ll continue their good form and come home with the 4 points. With 4 best ons from 6 games and averaging 3 goals a game, Lucy Carroll is one to watch.
Round 9 President’s Club $500- draw winner was Bairnsdale Tyre Service who promptly donated their winning to Fight MND – Well done & Thank you to the Davidsons. Saltwater Properties took home the Lucke’s Fresh Food Market hamper.
