Hi & Thanks for coming to the game today. It’s clash #248 v the Magpies in the footy with the coveted Dahlsen’s Cup on the line. Our boys have what it takes, we just need to have it for a full game.
A mixed day at Drouin last week with our junior teams leading the charge and our seniors found wanting. Congrats to 13’s who continued their strong perfromances and were switched on right from the start. Our 15’s hanged tough to sneak home by 4 in a tight one whilst our 17’s controlled the match throughout. Our 18’s, after a reality check from the Hawks and some home truths from the coach at ¾ time, did what they had to to get the win.
It was great to see crowd favourite and former captain Andrew Nelson taking control of the last line against the Hawks whilst veteran Moose Mooney recalibrated his compass and headed for goal (we’re sure he gained a yard the closer he got) Sammy Park planted the seed to becoming a GL power forward. Simon Deery keeps on keeping on and Link Robinson’s B&F odds shortened further as he continued his great season.
Well done to the big man Ethan East who plays game number 50 for the Redlegs today. Ruck, half forward and in the square he’s always providing a contest. We’re always a chance in the game when he’s on song.
Well done to our U13 footyers who broke through for their first win on Sunday. A big crowd and some great footy action made for a super Sunday v the Cats.
Our Youth girls followed the U15 game and went down by a slim 4 points. The margins are getting smaller each week and they’re not far off a win. Coach Gudgee’s got training flowing and skills improving. The girls are committed (and too their parents) travelling from all over East Gippsland for training and matches.
Richie had it nailed – The cream, the bone, the white, the off-white, the ivory or the….. pearl. We’re sure there’s plenty more, just make sure you get your white on for our Mid-Season “White Night” Ball . July 3rd 7pm at the Club social rooms. Dress to impress. Reach for semi-formal with as much white as possible. Men, that’s a jacket & trousers or suit, tie optional. Ladies, it’s a dress, pant suit or jump suit. Do your best to do white in style.
We’ve got a LIVE band The Ferriters, supper from New Leaf and drinks at bar prices. All we need to add is You. Tickets are just $30-.
