What about the highs & lows of footy & netball? Euphoria & heartbreak last week in the semis. The great news is, the 16’s & C Grade are playing in today’s prelim for a shot at the title next week.
You wouldn’t believe it could happen…… two draws in a row with Drouin in the C’s!! There had to be a winner and the extra time was a real roller coaster. Three seconds seemingly turned to two with plenty of held ball turnovers. We were up and about being up by 1 at the end of the first period. Then Drouin took over and went three up in the second before some great defending and clutch shooting, one right before the hooter, got us over the line by 1. Players and spectators were exhausted. What a win!
Today, our C’s face the Parrots. We’re yet to beat them this season and today is the day. Winning form is good form and we’re ready to pounce and get the W.
16’s dominated the Parrots from the outset last week however struggled to hit the scoreboard in the first half. They OTFG in the 3rd and 8 goals to zip pretty much sealed the game. Today it’s a qualifying final rematch v Maffra. We’ve had 3 outings v the Eagles this season and we’re due – ready to win when it counts. Like last week, if we keep our eyes on the footy and our head in the game, rewards will come.
Our 13’s & 15’s both started slowly last week which put them under the pump for the full game. Sometimes it’s just not your day. The players are to be congratulated and be proud of their achievements this season and their improvement throughout. Well done.
The Gippsland League Community Finals Series has been great this season and its continuation in 2024 means we get our chance to host a final. It’ll be great to showcase our competition to the East Gippsland community. Yes, we travelled to Wonthaggi & Warragul this series however we also played closer to home at Maffra & Sale. It’s a case of swings and roundabouts and a great thing for the Clubs & the League.
