Finals 2022 The Prelim

It’s Preliminary Final day and our Thirds are flying the Grand Old Flag. Today we tackle Maffra in what promises to be another epic battle. We’ve been on the wrong side of the winners post a couple of times this season however the margin is slimming and our boys are in great form. We have what it takes to have our nose in front at the line. A Grand Final spot to take on the Guls is the prize for the winners - Bring it on.

The boys made it here with another solid performance last week playing good, persistent team footy. 5 goals to Huddo and a couple to Jake Anderson. Better players on the day were Randall, Will, Huddo, Tom, Charlie & Cass.

A hard fought finish for our 13’s last week however not the result they were striving for. A 9 goal loss to the Power doesn’t tell the whole story and our girls are winners all round. They’ve had a real consistent year and we’re proud of who they are and the way they go about it. Thanks & Well Done to Nors & Abbey for their coaching & guidance throughout the season.

Last week we hinted at some exciting news and this week our footy department delivered. They’ve been working overtime to strengthen our position in 2023 and we’re cock-a-hoop with the news Will Mitchell is headed to the Redlegs!!!! Will arrives from Preston Bullants in the VFL where he’s been averaging 27 touches and 5 tackles a game as an inside mid. Unsurprisingly, just as brother Tom & Dad Barry, he’s also a clearance king. Will is an elite performer and we welcome him to the Redlegs and can’t wait to see him in action.

On the back of Will’s decision to be a Redleg in 2023, we're elated to announce Kane Ashwood as our Senior Assistant Coach (non playing). Kane is a Redlegs B&F winner and an inclusive & inspiring leader on and off the field. He was an integral part of our re-entry to the Gippsland League in 2011. He returns to us having guided Lindenow to 2 Premierships as senior coach. Kane is a great people person and has excellent footy IQ. He’s excited about assisting us be a contender in the continually improving Gippsland League.

Bairnsdale Youth Girls players Jasmine O'Connor, Evelyn Gudgin, Lara Healy & Zoe Cotter have once again been selected to represent Gippsland at this year’s V Line Cup. They’re joined by goal kicking Queen, Lucy Carrol who has been selected for her first campaign. The U15 Championship competition will be played in Shepparton on 19/20th September. Well done Girls.
