2021 Footy Record Rnd9 V Maffra

Inspired by U16 coach and senior player Brodie Anderson, it’s joke of the week…. How do you make a tissue dance? You put a little boogie in it.

Anyway…… Our A Graders battled well against top of the table Moe and their form the past two outings suggest expectations for a win today are high. Our B’s almost took the points over their more fancied opponent, going down by a solitary goal. Doing it all again today gives them a great chance of having that winning feeling. 17’s 15’s & 13’s continued their winning ways and will need to be on their mettle today in order to taste victory. Round of applause also to Emily Hall who played her 50th game for the Redlegs last weekend.

At the footy, a promising opening stanza gave way to 2nd qtr lapse which cost us dearly. However we stuck at it right to the end, pegging back the deficit along the way. A 4 qtr effort is needed today if we are to grab the 4 points. The 2’s strung together 2 in a row clinching an important win against the Lions. Today’s clash goes up a level and a win is needed so not to relinquish the gains made recently. Our u18’s turned put in a solid performance and are rightly favoured to win today. Our 16’s had a convincing win and will find the going a bit tougher today. Winning against the others in the top 5 is the next step for this group.

Some great news with EGSC application for $500,000 funding to provide female friendly facilities at Bairnsdale City Oval and upgrades to Peppercorn Park successful! Well done our Committee who have been working on this project with Council for a couple of years. Shout out also to Rob Soulsby for his foresight and action in relation to early planning for the change room upgrade. The Peppercorn Park development will provide much needed usable space for our Auskick, u11, u13, u15, u16, u17(girls) u18, reserves and senior footballers and also provide capacity to rejuvenate our women’s footy program.

Thanks and well done to Jacqui and the social committee for the White Night last Saturday night. A great event and a super time had by all. The Ferriters had a crack in tough conditions. Thanks also to Mick and his team for putting in the hard yards behind the bar. Also, a shout out to Kelly and her team at Bairnsdale Party Hire. The place looked sensational and the photo booth was in high demand.

A huge Thank You to our junior coaches Brad Cloak, Matt Tanner, Scott Dullard & Youth Girls Glen Gudgin. They put in a lot of time and expertise to help the kids grow their love of the game, be their best and have fun with their friends. The #1 reason kids drop out of sport is a bad coaching experience. Player retention and growth in our junior and girls’ programs is a testament to their great work.
