2021 Footy Record Rnd 10 - Post Covid Shutdown

Updated: May 6, 2022

Wow! Welcome back to footy & netball in 2021.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with all who were effected by last weeks rain and storms especially our mates at Traralgon FNC, their committee. Members and sponsors.

Kudos to Pip Timms and her team for the time and effort devoted to our D.I.Y. Big Freeze Event. Despite the extraordinary disappointment of all in it being cancelled, we managed to raise over $1000- for a great cause. Thank you for your support.

Community sport has been pretty quiet the past few weeks with only our Youth Girls managing to get a game in before the long weekend. It was a tough loss v Sale City at home however the girls really enjoyed the hit out. Our players are improving each week. The more training nights and games we have this season will build for ongoing success. Well done also to Lydia and Gabby who have begun with the Gippsland Power program. Plenty of positive things are happening in the female footy space and its sensational that us Redlegs are at the forefront.

Whilst on the girls, it was great to have a couple of code hoppers in Anna & Olivia whack the footy jumper on in the absence of GL netball. They both played well and their coaches were pleased they remained injury free.

Congratulations to Cooper Vickery who has been picked in the Vic Country Squad to compete in this year’s National Carnival. A great achievement. Well done and keep enjoying your footy.

All good wishes go out to our A Grade assistant coach and Star defender Alison Dwyer. Alison is recovering from season ending knee injury following surgery last fortnight. The op went well and she’ll be back courtside real soon. From the sidelines, Alison’s ability to recognise offensive patterns and defensive strategies will give our young players valuable insights of the game.

Mark these dates in your Calendar. Always fun to be had with the Redlegs.

3 July Rnd 12 v Moe – Redlegs Ball – White Night

TBA – Silent Disco

We love the trip to Hawks’ territory and the trip home is even better with 4 points under our belts. There’s plenty on the line for all teams in both codes today. Average sucks. Challenge Yourself to Bring your best.

Good luck to all players and teams.

Go Redlegs.
