Back to earth with a thud. Just the one win last week which came from our Two’s footy who put in a strong performance to get the choccies by 17 points. Oscar Clarke, Sam Hopkins, Daniel Eastman, Liam Russell, Joeby Ritchie and 3 goals to Tom Hudson backing up from the 3rds. Well done boys.
It’s been a tough year numbers wise and injury, illness and unavailability all playing their roles. Here’s a shout out to all the “Double Uppers” who make it possible to fill teams each week. In the footy & netball we’ve had players double up from u11’s all the way to A Grade and Seniors. We’ve also had boundary umpires run up to 3 games and water carriers doubling up. Timekeepers, court officials and runners have all doubled up for the cause. It’s not an ideal situation so to you we say - Thanks for making footy & netball possible for others.
Our Youth Girls got back on the winners list with a commanding 10 goal win over Drouin at Drouin. Better players on the day were Gabby Foster (6 goals), Lydia Gudgin, Maegan Sherritt, Lucy Carroll (3 goals), Evelyn Gudgin, Jasmin O'Connor. We host Moe tomorrow so drop into the City Oval on your way home and give the girls a cheer.
Our 13’s are in finals contention and our 11’s and 15’s are playing some good footy and improving each week. We head seaside to Lakes tomorrow. Good luck to all.
What do 1902, 1912, 1952, 2002 & 2012 have in common? They were all Bairnsdale Premiership years in one form or another. 2002 was 1’s & A Grade and 2012 the U18’s broke through in our 2nd season back in the Gippsland League. 11 June at our Queen’s Birthday weekend game v Warragul, we’d love to have as many of you back together to celebrate your achievement. Wonthaggi is a long way to come for a game of footy or netball so let’s make sure we take a swag of points home with us. The 13’s is a must win 4v3 battle & our 15’s & 17’s are a big show today, our B’s are looking to further consolidate their top 5 spot and C’s looking for their 2nd win. We’re especially gunning for a breakthrough A grade win today. The 3’s will need to work their way to a win and the 2’s and 1’s are a huge possibility to claim season changing wins today. With the upcoming bye we’ve got two weeks to recover so lets make sure we leave it all out there. Don’t Think. Do.
Challenge Yourself. Good luck to all players and teams.
Go Redlegs.
